Page Program
U.S. Senate Page Program
The U.S. Senate Page Program provides a unique opportunity for high school juniors from around the country to gain first-hand knowledge of the inner workings of Congress while living and working on Capitol Hill. Pages play a crucial role in the day-to-day operations of the Senate, with duties centered on preparing the Senate Chamber for session and delivering correspondence and legislative materials throughout the Capitol complex.
There are four established sessions with 30 pages per session.
Fall Session: Early September through mid-January
Spring Session: Mid-January through mid-June.
Senate Pages who serve during the fall or spring session attend early morning classes at the United States Senate Page School, which is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools.
Summer Session I: Early June and typically runs 2-3 weeks
Summer Session II: Early July and typically runs 2-3 weeks
Eligibility
A page must be sponsored by a Senator. Since there are only 30 Senate pages per session, our office will only occasionally have the ability to host a page. Unfortunately, due to the limited positions and the high volume of applicants, very few students who apply will be admitted.
Eligibility for a sponsorship from our office is limited to Colorado high school juniors who will be 16 or 17 years old when the session begins.
In addition, Pages must:
- Verify a minimum grade point average of 3.0
- Be a citizen of the United States or subject to agreements of the Department of State
- Have a Social Security number
Application Deadlines
- Summer Sessions: February 1st
- Fall Session: May 1st
- Spring Session: September 1st
How to Apply
Applications should include the following:
- Completed Page Application Form
- Two Letters of Recommendation, one of which should be from a teacher, principal, or headmaster
- Official High School Transcript
Completed applications should be submitted to PageProgram@Hickenlooper.senate.gov by the deadlines listed above.
