GIDDY UP-DATE NEWSLETTER: On the road again…

Jun 6, 2022

Hi all,

Last week, we spent a few days traveling around Colorado, where we talked about everything from early childhood education and technical degrees to clean energy and immigration reform. Watch our recap:

One of the highlights was our stop in Carbondale to visit El Busesito, a mobile preschool that provides high-quality education to nearly 100 children throughout the Roaring Fork Valley. We just secured funding to purchase three new buses to use as mobile classrooms!

After our visit with the kids, we met with members of the Latino community about how Washington can help with housing and workforce shortages in our mountain towns.

At Colorado Mountain College in Eagle County, we chatted with students about youth apprenticeships, technical degrees, and the importance of building transferable skills for a 21st century workforce. This will help address shortages and ensure everyone has an opportunity to succeed.

As a former small business owner, I love meeting folks who are creating jobs in their local communities. In Summit County, we stopped by Bluebird Market for empanadas and to hear about inflation, COVID recovery, and other challenges facing small businesses.

Finally, we went east to Fort Morgan to tour Viaero Wireless, one of the many companies providing high-speed internet for $30/month through our Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill’s Affordable Connectivity Program. You can head to GetInternet.gov to see if you qualify.

Hearing directly from Coloradans is one of the most important parts of this job, and I couldn’t be more honored to be your voice in Washington.

We can’t wait to get back on the road. See you soon!

Senator John Hickenlooper
