Hickenlooper Statement on Space Command’s Future in Colorado

Nov 12, 2024

WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Senator John Hickenlooper released the following statement after U.S. Representative Mike Rogers claimed in an interview that President-elect Donald Trump will move Space Command HQ to Alabama:

“It’s already been investigated, proven, and decided: Colorado Springs is the best place for Space Command because it’s already at work here.

“U.S. Space Command is at full operational capability and has been for nearly a year. Dedicated service members and civilians are working around the clock at Peterson Space Force Base to keep our country safe in space.

“Alabama couldn’t win this fight on the merits so they’re trying to get Trump to overrule our national security and cost taxpayers an enormous amount for the sake of a hometown win. We need leaders who fight for our national defense first, not just Huntsville’s economy.”
