More than half of abortions nationwide are medication abortions
WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator John Hickenlooper today released the following statement on the Texas Federal District Court’s decision to block use of Mifepristone for medication abortion across the country:
“Today’s ruling puts politics above science and ideology above women’s rights.
“Overturning Roe v. Wade was always just the beginning – this is the next step in their plan to ban abortion nationwide. But we aren’t going back.”
Hickenlooper is a longtime advocate for reproductive rights. He is a co-sponsor of the The Protecting Access to Medication Abortion Act, a bill that protects access to medication abortion in states where abortion is still legal. He is also a co-sponsor of the Women’s Health Protection Act, which would codify Roe v. Wade into law. Hickenlooper supports Colorado’s efforts to safeguard reproductive rights following the Supreme Court Dobbs decision.
